Action learning is a combination of real work projects with a true learning component. It brings together a cross section of people with different skills and experience, to analyze real work problems. Already used for management development by companies such as GE, Boeing, Siemens, Johnson & Johnson and Bertelsmann, action learning has the unique ability to build managers and to tackle real business issues.
Action learning can take a variety of forms, all of which have three central characteristics: the content of learning is a real business challenge that integrates learning and doing; participants work together in teams; the process reserves time for formal presentations and for reflection and discussion among participants.
